Here is another mock up I did for the Scifi series: Its what I think an underwater unit would look like for a Halo character. : ) That was fun to illustrate!

I received a call that I needed to provide some Sci-Fi Illustrations! Here's the first rough!

Inspiration

I have a lot of old books filled with old illustrations and paintings and I stumbled upon this one- "Unconscious Rivals" by Alma-Tadema 1893. In the spring I started drawing the girls....

....and then decided to make the drawing a little different and mix some new elements into it. I admit, my girls are a little more stiff than Tadema's, but this was a good exercise in fabrics!

I'm currently working on coloring, using photoshop as my medium. I'm surprised at how my water color training is showing, even in a digital painting. : )

Aniboom History Channel Competition

NEW WEBSITE UPDATE!!!

So! I've finally updated my website: fixed all the video links, and put up a motion graphics gallery (with a lot of the work I did for The M Resort Spa and Casino).

This was my first completed design: It was too matchy and it didn't really pop out.

This is my second design: So I created this one just before I graduated to create more contrast and to make it more memorable. However...

My third design: The second website seemed too busy and distracting to my work. Also some of my videos weren't working. So I decided to make a gallery that was easier on the eyes and emphasizes the work I have done, rather than compete for attention.

Beefing up the 3D Environments

I have always been curious about how fast one can work to recreate a photograph in a 3D environment and so I began my newest experiment! I chose a simple Polaroid from the internet and have recreated it and textured.

The only things left are figuring out the lighting and then if I want to introduce a 2D character walking into the scene and then walking out into the next room carrying one of the 3D elements. Matching the lighting and making the two different elements fit together would be a challenge but I am most anxious to take a try at.

Due to computer difficulties, progress has been slower and more varied than I had wanted, but I will have the updated progress soon!

This was rendered with Maya software (The lighting was put in roughly) And my Mentor suggested I try Mental Ray, which is used below. I have not yet finished the lighting, but here is the progress! I'll provide a wire frame later.

Working for The M Resort Spa and Casino

Hello again! It has been a long time since I have updated my blog, and a lot has happened! In January I got a job as a Motion Media Artist for The M Resort Spa and Casino and it was a blast! I got to work with another graduate, who was very talented (thanks for your help!) and a very fun staff. :) Although it was only a contract job that lasted until March, I was glad to have the experience.

Pencil Test of Glen Keane's Beast

I was searching through my 2 disc set of Beauty and the Beast and found some awesome pencil tests of Mark Henne's Beauty and Glen Keane's Beast. I'm a little more partial to Glen's style, so I decided to try my hand at a scene. I sat in front of my freeze framed television screen for these- although in retrospect I could have done it off the computer....
